A quick question before I buy.

Wed Sep 26, 2012 2:12 am

After testing a few I think Bandicam is my favorite. I plan on recording my videos in 720p since 1080p just isn't worth it IMO for the HDD space and I'm assuming recording at a lower resolution also saves processing power. So here's my question:

I recorded a video in 720p using Motion JPEG then edited it in Sony Vegas. I exported it as a maximum quality .mp4 using the Internet Video 720p option and uploaded to YouTube. The file on my HDD looks pretty darn good, but I feel in 720p on YouTube it doesn't look that great, see here: http://youtu.be/558ubV7wFQk?hd=1

Now the thing is, I've seen other 720p videos on YouTube that look great so I know YouTube compresses it but they don't all come out looking weird. Any advice? What do you think?

Hello!

Your video looks great!

We recommend you try the 'External codec' function of Bandicam.
The 'External codec' function allows you to use Lagarith lossless video codec.
This codec can provide better picture quality than Motion JPEG (MJPEG).
For more information, please visit http://www.bandicam.com/faqs/vfw-x264-x ... /#lagarith

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll definitely be buying Bandicam when I get my next paycheck. Your software blows the rest away.

For anyone looking for help finding their perfect settings here's what I've discovered after trial and error.

Bandicam: Full Size, 29.97fps, 90quality, Motion JPEG, PCM, 48.0KHz, stero

Rendering in Sony Vegas for YouTube: Internet HD 1080p preset under MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4;*.avc) exports as .mp4.

Nice compromises for great recording quality, not too big of a file size, doesn't lag my system. Lagarith didn't seem as smooth as MJPEG.

Hope this is helpful!!!

EDIT: Here's a sample of the quality, let me know what you think (and remember that YouTube automatically drops some of the quality themselves, also note the link only takes you to 720p but you can go up to 1080p if you would like): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25ZIVcBb ... tu.be&hd=1

EDIT 2: Here's a tutorial video I made on getting it setup with these settings: http://youtu.be/d1A29IDRNOM?hd=1
