Question About Performance While Recording

Sat Feb 15, 2014 2:27 pm

Game Played - Elsword

Laptop - AsusG73jh-A1
Windows 7 64 bit
I7-720qm
AMD 5870m
8 gigs of ram
SSD

I installed THESE codacs.

In order for me to record without my computer freezing, I checked virtual dub hack. More info on what this does would be appreciated. I'm forced to log off if this isn't enabled cause it will freeze windows once I hit stop or pause.

My recording settings

1920 x 1080p
60fps
H264
Ultra fast, Fast Decode checked, Zero Latency checked.

Audio is set to 444100Hz and I used pcm. The recording turns out pretty good. Quality is excellent. Unfortunately when recording, my performance while I'm gaming takes a hit. My question is why?? when my gpu load is only at 30% and my cpu load is at 40%. Had plenty of free memory left on the ram as well. Which means something else is taking a hit but what is it? I feel like I should be able to have smooth play while recording but that's not the case.

My guess is it may be my SSD? Below are my results with Crystal Disk Mark for testing my hardrive speed:

    CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's very strange.

Does it do this with other games?

It did happen for other games but I think I found the issue.... sort of.

When gaming, I tend to use razer game booster to get better performance. But that actually caused my performance to suffer.....

After I restarted and went straight to the game and started recording, I played at full 60fps. Either game booster is ending something it shouldn't have or its a broken product.
