While looking for an answer to why my mic quality is so bad I saw this posted by someone from bandisoft.

You don't have to use the secondary sound device to make the commenatry video.
The secondary sound device is used for a special purpose - such as Skype recording."

How does one record his own microphone without having microphone selected as the secondary sound device?

Hello,

If you use Windows XP and check "Stereo Mix", you can record what you hear including your voice.
If you use Windows 7/Vista and check "Win7/Vista Sound (WASAPI)", you can record what you hear including your voice.

(However, a few sound cards have to use Two Sound Mixing)
