Bandicam doesn't record screen in Windows XP

Tue Jan 06, 2015 10:25 am

Bandicam has been working fine all the time I've been using Windows 7. Last month I've downgraded to Windows XP because my computer got fried, I've installed Bandicam and now I can't record games. The file comes out as an audio file, and it's in a video format. I've tried everything I could to make Bandicam record the game screen with DirectX/OpenGL, but all I get is an audio file in a video format. Do I have to use a graphics card to record the game screen, or is the fact that Bandicam doesn't support the .wmv container? (.wmv is the only video format in Windows XP that Media Player can play properly without a grey screen popping up)
I've never felt comfortable about using a graphics card, as I'm only 13...

The Bandicam version I'm using is 2.1.2.739, and I always update it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello!

It might be a problem with the codec or your media player.

Please play the recorded video with VLC or POT media player.

It must be a problem with the codec. Opening the recorded video in an editing software doesn't work, so I highly doubt that the file could play properly on a different media player.

Opening the file with Google Chrome or any other browser is not an alternative either.

To edit the recorded video with editing programs, use the "Motion JPEG and PCM" codecs.

I used those codecs, and got the exact same result. I never used them in order to edit the video anyway, because it's already easy enough.
My editing software is VideoPad, which is very easy to use. Maybe this is the problem, but I hope not... :P

Hello Ivan,

I have been using Bandicam in combination with VideoPad Video Editor for a short time as well,
but I never had any issues (except for some crashes).

You could try some different combinations, like thr MPEG-1 codec in Audio and Video,
scaling down your screen resolution or
try to record something in DirectX / OpenGL mode.

Maybe you will find a combination, that works.

I hope, I was able to help you!

Sadly, none of that worked. :(

You could try to use an older version, please ask Bandicam to send you one ( bandicam@bandisoft.com )

Well, I've downgraded to version 1.9.5.510, since I didn't want to downgrade too much, and guess what?

That DIDN'T work! I'm not kidding!
