Problem with output video smoothness

Sat Nov 19, 2011 3:50 am

Hello there.

I am new here since I purchased your software only very recently !

Well, to cut to the chase, I have to say, Bandicam offers good alternative to FRAPS.
However, I am a bit , no to say deeply, frustrated with something, as it is almost the tenth time I tried to record a video game all over again.

The game in question is : The Elder Scroll V : Skyrim. It is very recent (last week !).

So far, I couldn't make a decent video. Why ? Simply put, all my output videos have no smoothness wathsoever. I could see it with Bandicam, showing the FPS while watching them.

I mean, I did change the video settings... yes I did, oh yes I did !
I tried :
- a huge BR (up to 50'000kbps !!)
- a huge FR (up to 60.00 FPS !!)
- all the available codecs.
These options in all possible combinations !

Truth be told, I am going crazy, like nuts. This is very bad for my blood pressure. I think the next fail (after 10 consecutive fails) will be the straw that's gonna break that camel's back of me. Hahah... (crying)

No really, you guys you are my last hope. And since I paid your soft' (which is pretty rare from me), I'm just hoping you'll bring me this piece of light I have so willing to have for a very long time (not that long, but still, too stressful in a too short time frame).

Here is what it is:
- I want to comment this great video game for friends.
- I play with ultra settings in 1080p. Normally, the game is very smooth with an average of 40 FPS. Even while recording !
- I want to encode the videos with my ATI HD6970 with AMD Avivo (only the following codecs from Bandicam are supported: MPEG-1 and YV12 - the last being better, but not as smooth as expected).
- I want the videos to be the best quality as possible. I DO NOT CARE THE SIZE ! Bring it on ! xD
- AND I want to upload them to YouTube.

Is that too much to ask ?

Here is my beasty (if you can call it like that):
- ASUS P6T motherboard ;
- Intel core i7 920 @2.66GHz (up to 3.2Ghz with turbo-boost ; HT enabled) ;
- ATI HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 (with last driver 11.11) ;
- 3x2Go DDR3 RAM Tri-Channel @1333MHz ;
- Samsung SyncMaster P2350 : 1080p @ 60Hz and 2ms !
- game installed in : Samsung SpinPoint F3 1To 64mb cache 7200RPM ;
- videos stored in SamSung SpinPoint F3 2To 32mb (? - not sure) 7200RPM

I believe it is able to withstand what I want to do, right ? Please, tell me yes !!

So far, I have been able to do two videos with FRAPS.
But FRAPS is a nightmare. Why ? This is why I chose you :
- ONLY ONE FILE ! (I know, they do like AVI 1.0 for its performance and quality, but still ...)
- NO LAGS WHATSOEVER (finally !)

Well, you know everything then.
I hope you won't take my thread the wrong way (french homemade humor here - the best of its kind ! xD).
I just hope I will find soon the answer.

Thanks a lot for looking into my issue and have a nice week-end anyway !

EDIT: I believe I finally found out the issue. It seems that my issue has something to do with the resolution.
I tried the preset "Youtube 720p". Worked quite fine, but I wanted 1080p. So I kept everything like before and just modified the resolution to "Full Size". And the output video went back to be not smooth at all. Why ? I really wish I could play AND record in FullHD ! That's my trademark, if you know what I mean.
EDIT 2 : Even with the preselect of YouTube 720p, the video isn't smooth.
Here is the comparison :
- Fraps version : http://www.multiupload.com/6L147J0XAN
- Bandicam version : http://www.multiupload.com/JGJUJIFQNX
If you pause at the same second, you can see that :
- Fraps version is higher quality thanks to the full size option (1080p)
- Bandicam version is a bit less smooth. You don't really see or feel it, but I tried with longer video.

As long as I don't solve my issue, I will keep thinking : why did I purchase Bandicam ?

Ok, try this workaround:

1) preset the Youtube 720p preset;
2) in the same tab go to settings;
3) new window: "Format settings", first 2 lines: "Fit Height" and "0 x 720";
3) try to change 0 x 720 in 0 x 1080;
4) in FPS field change "30" with "60"
5) if you want a better quality in "Quality field" change "80" with "100";
6) change audio settings as you wish;
7) click ok and try to rec.

Final result:

Hello,

Matteo955's solution is quite good.
(Thank you so much! :D )

I want to add one more thing.
Skyrim_1080p.jpg
Skyrim_1080p.jpg (94.1 KiB) Viewed 8982 times
Go to Skyrim Options, and choose "16:9 Widescreen" and "1920*1080" resolution
"Widowed Mode" might be better to reduce the lag

I hope you can create 1080p YouTube videos without lagging.

Best Regards,
Bandicam

I also notice a slight loss of playback smoothness in Bandicam recordings

I know most won't notice, but I have a good eye for it.

Bandicam seems to cycle between 28 - 30 FPS at certain instances, its a bit hard to explain, its not silky smooth, but I can live with it. :roll:

I record in 720P youtube preset.

also, I need to do a few more tests to confirm
