I'm a little bit confused how resolution is working. If i have 1920x1080 default monitor resolution, I set same in my game, record in fullscreen and then in video editing software i put same resolution and aspect ratio than a video uploaded to youtube is HD 1920.

But what if I want to play on lower resolution in game, and still upload HD 1920 video? How this resolutions are related to each other? I don't get it.

Short answer: you'll have to upscale (set it to 1920x1080p) in your video editing software.

Quality stays the same unless you change the other settings (specifically bitrate). 720p will still look the same when upscaled to 1080p. And yeah, you're just stretching it bigger, it takes up more space to show the same thing.

It will look a little better on YouTube because YT has bitrate limits per resolution.
5000kbps for 720p
8000kbps for 1080p

But people will be able to tell that you upscaled it.
It's up to you if you want to upscale or not.

Only on 1080p though, since your video is upscalled to match that resolution. It will still look perfect at its original resolution.
