[invalidated]No h.264 NVidia CUDA option with 337.88 drivers

Tue Jul 07, 2015 4:20 am

/edit [invalidated] I wasn't able to get it to work in any way. Since my Windows installation seemed to have other problems as well, I decided to do a clean installation of the operating system today at last. I have installed the 335.23 driver for my GTX 550 Ti (newer ones probably don't do anything for this older model), and I have the CUDA Video Encoder back. This issue does no longer need assistance, thank you.

Hello,

I wasn't aware that NVidia had removed the CUDA video encoder from drivers newer than 337.88, it's repeatedly given me some headache until I figured that out, and it continues to do so while trying to roll back unsuccessfully.

I have now installed the 337.88 drivers and the nvcuvenc.dll is present both in system32 and SysWOW64 on my Win7 Professional x64, yet I do not get the encoder option back in Bandicam. I used to have it, both on my old GTX260 and my current GTX 550 Ti.

I have tried to cleanly uninstall the drivers, reboot while preventing Windows from automatically installing the 353.xx drivers, and installed the 337.88 drivers that includes the nvcuvenc.dll files for 32 and 64 bit with no luck. I tried an older version of Bandicam (1.9.4.505) to no avail, and then updating to the latest (2.2.3.803) with the option missing.

My video editing and rendering software (Sony Vegas) also still does not seem to use CUDA assisted rendering either, which seems in-line with the unavailability as codec in Bandicam. It used to work but I never knew why it stopped (drivers update).

I was wondering if you, or users in the Bandicam community, would know anything I could try further? I REEEAAALLY want CUDA assisted video encoding to work again, really really badly. It greatly helps my CPU when capturing, and immensely speeds up my video rendering (.8 times video length vs ~3 times for CPU only).

Best Regards,
Daniel

Thank you, but I think you have not thoroughly read my post, and you do not understand the issue I have stated.

I have the 337.88 drivers installed, that still ought to include the NV CUDA Encoder, and the files in question are present, while the encoder is not showing up as an option regardless. I have scoured the forums before I made my post without success.

/edit: I meant 337.88 not 377.88.

I've pasted the .dll in SysWOW64

Result:

Try using the one that is provided.

You would believe it ought to be that simple, and I swear to you by the holy binary states (both of them), the files are there. The ones provided with the driver didn't make it work, and the ones provided in the archive by Bandicam after rebooting haven't made a difference either.

Even though trying to get an md5 sum, it always gives me the one in SysWOW64 result:

But the result still is:

Which is why I stated that even though it should be working, there's probably something that still stops it from working, and it drives this man mad haha. Thank you for your good intentions though.

I gave up getting it to work after a total of however many hours spread over a longer period of time trying and re-trying. This was definitely not related to Bandicam directly, I'd like to point that out clearly. I was turning for help towards this forum though, because it seemed a more likely source for answers. Thanks everyone who has put thought into it.

I can't tell if it was a problem with my Windows 7 installation, but eventually I did a fresh clean installation of the operating system as edited in the OP, and installed the 335.23 drivers for my GTX 550 Ti which should be perfectly fine for this old model, and I got it all back. I'm glad I procrastinated this until I actually was aware of the CUDA video encoder removal in versions newer than 337.88 though, so I would not pollute the installation with undesired driver files.

I'm sorry if anybody ends up here looking for help and get only the answer, that re-installing your operating system seems to have helped in this case. Right... now on to the first batch of 139 important Windows updates ;)
