Mic getting picked up

Sat Aug 01, 2015 6:11 pm

Hello,

My mic is getting picked up even though I have disabled my secondary sound device. My primary sound device is Win10 Sound (WASAPI). This only happens if I record with "DirectX/OpenGL window" setting, not with "Rectangle on a screen".

I am currently using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I only noticed this issue ever since I upgraded to Windows 10.

Regards,
Tymorafarr

Right click on Speakers icon in your taskbar > Playback devices > Select Speakers > Press Properties > Select Levels tab >
Check if the front and back Microphones are muted there.

The rear jacks are all at zero volume and muted. Did a test again and the microphone still leaks into the video while secondary device is disabled.

Win10 sound, or the OS specific equivalent is the muxed together sound of all playback devices. It's possible you have the microphone input being output in the list of playback devices. First port of a call would be to check which devices you have selected as playback devices.

On the windows 10 sound icon in the notification tray, right click, select playback devices. Ensure that only things like your soundcard, or relevant devices are playing back. Right click on unwanted devices and select disable.

Likewise, check the recording tab in the same window, and check that only the relevant devices are enabled.

It's always worth checking this on new OS installs or upgrades.. :)

edit: also, under record settings. Double click your microphone, go to the listen tab, make sure "listen to this device" is un ticked.

I disabled or unplugged all irrelevant playback devices except for my speaker. Same for my recording devices, only the microphone is enabled. 'Listen to this device' has always been unchecked for the microphone.

Issue still persists. It does however fix it, if I avoid using Win10 sound and go straight for my Speakers for the primary sound device.

Hello!
This only happens if I record with "DirectX/OpenGL window" setting, not with "Rectangle on a screen".
What is your recording target?
Do you have the problem with other games/applications?

It seems that your recording target program uses a voice chatting function, etc.

Hello,

I did some more extensive testing recording on multiple games (Dark Souls 2, MGS:GZ, Warframe).

I discovered the issue IS NOT Win10 Sound (WASAPI) itself. Because I often record mic and no-mic, I switch around settings for my secondary sound device regularly.

Instead, the problem is when I set the secondary sound device to my mic, it works fine. But when I stop recording and disable the secondary sound device, the sound is still getting picked up. This occurs regardless whether my primary sound device is my speaker or Win10 Sound. To fix it, I have to re-open Bandicam.

The issue seems like the secondary sound device isn't disabled properly in the software. Again, this only happens in DirectX/OpenGL window, and not Rectangle on a screen.

Hello!

We can't reproduce the problem you mentioned.

Please uncheck "Listen to this device" under the Listen tab, and try it again.

Listen to device setting has always been turned off.
It's alright if the issue cannot be resolved. It's not a big issue and I found ways to fix it temporarily by restarting it each time the settings are changed.

Can confirm. Using 4.6.4 1728 and this bug is present. It seems to be that the audio settings are not saving to the session. They do seem to save to file, though. The work around is setting your devices the way you need them setup and then closing down and restarting Bandicam. This will properly setup audio recording.
