Failed to initialize video capture device?

I cannot record my webcam, when i select it it shows a message saying "Failed to initialize video capture device".
I'm not sure why this is happening, as skype is recognizing the webcam perfectly..
I have a multilaser USB 2.0 webcam, and windows 7. My graphics card is a Geforce GTX 750 ti
