HEVC larger file size than H264, why?

Sun Aug 21, 2016 1:57 am

Hi, I noticed that bandicut now supports HEVC, from reading the internet the advantage of this codec is supposed to be much smaller campared to h264.

I did a comparison and HEVC recorded in Bandicam is much larger, about 40% larger on disk. Is Bandicam broken, I recorded 10 seconds of game footage h264 VBR 100% quality and HEVC VBR 100% quality and h264 is the clear winner being only 60mb, while the HEVC is 111mb. What is the deal, HEVC is supposed to be better, but it's not?

Hello!

The file size of HEVC was smaller (10% or more) than H.264 when we recorded the same video/recording target.

We recommend you record the same video to compare the file size.
