Hello,

So I bought bandicam back in January and it was working fine up until today. I went to record game footage with me and a friend whilst communicating on Skype. Now the problem is, is that bandicam is now recording skype and I'm not sure what I've done to make that happen. I don't want bandicam to record any audio except the game audio. Can anyone help me with this please.

Thank you.

Hello CrispyBailey,

unfortunately you can only record either all output sound or the sound of one specific sound device using Bandicam, meaning that any program that outputs sound through the sound device that Bandicam records on is captured.

To stop this from happening you'd need two sound devices of which one would play the game sound and the other your skype conversation.

I hope I was able to help you,

Thank you for that information. How do I go about changing the output for the sound? Is it as simple as just changing a few settings or do I need to do something else?

Imagine every program that plays back any kind of sound does that through some kind of output device, like a speaker or headset.

For some programs you can actually choose this device yourself, this includes amongst other programs communication, video and music editing software.

All other software uses the default output device.

With Bandicam you can record what each of these devices output or all of them mixed together.

So to record just the game audio you need to record the device you have selected as default (can be set in the windows sound options - control panel -> sound) and play back Skype through a different device.

In order to do so you have to you have to press Ctrl + , in Skype to open the options and navigate to the sound options where you can select the output device.

Now you just have to record the correct device with Bandicam.

Video Tab->[Recording]->Settings->Sound->Primary sound device

And select your default device (or simply default device which is available on most systems).

Now you should be good.

I hope I was able to help you,

That is all really useful, and I thank you, but when I did this, I could only hear game sound. I couldn't hear my friend on skype speaking? Is there a way to stop this from happening?

As I said you'd need two speakers and by that means would have to either hear just the commentary and not the game sound or hear both, just through different speakers.

There might be other ways of doing this by having virtual or alias sound devices (if those even exist).
