MP4 Output Files Have Low FPS

Since 1 May (or thereabouts), although in-game FPS and the Bandicam FPS overlay both show 60+ FPS, the MP4 output files are ranging from 30-45 fps.

I checked older recording, and they are definitely ~60fps. I've recorded over 800 videos. I am confident I know what I am looking at.

I have just updated to the latest version of Bandicam, and it is still happening.

The only two things that have changed are the recent Windows 10 update and Nvidia updating their drivers multiple times.

However, as in-game and the overlay both show 60+ FPS, I am assuming it is Bandicam causing the issue.

My settings have not changed in 18 months:

After some more testing, AVI output maintains the correct FPS.

So it only seems to be MP4.

However, I tested MP4 using OBS and it maintained the FPS as well.

So it is a Bandicam issue with MP4 output since the latest Windows 10 and/or NVidia driver updates.

I thought AVI output would be a stop-gap. Nope.

Corrupted.

Spent 3 hours today trying to recover 35 minutes of gameplay that can't be repeated.

Lost about 25% of the recording.

Sorry bandicam. Either RESPOND or I guess I find an alternative. NOT HAPPY!

Hello sbgaming,

It might be a problem with the graphics driver.
First, please uninstall the graphics driver completely.

And then, please install the latest version of the graphics driver and try recording again.

If it does not seem to help, please let us know your PC specs such as CPU, GPU, OS, and graphics driver version and your recording target.

We look forward to you reply.

Thank you.

I have retested after uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and the issue remains. Although games and bandicam report ~60fps the MP4 output varies between 30-45fps.

Running the same test on OBS achieves a steady ~60fps.

do you try to record all of your video in one file?
How large is the final file size?
How long is it (HH:MM:SS) approximately?

Using other screen recording program in the past where it was unattended (BSR screen recorder), I found out that it is best to break up the recording (automatically) into smaller pieces because:
1) if the recorder / computer crash, the video is still saved up until the crash point.
2) you could backup to the cloud as additional option (using additional private script)
3) easier to work with smaller files (loads into video player/editor quicker, discard parts you dont want without editing software, etc) You can always join the files (lossless-ly) later using bandicut or other video joiner software as they will all be the same aspect ratio.
4) larger unfinished file increase the chance of corruption.

You have little to gain by recording several hours of video and holding it all in memory, especially such high settings. Save it every x minutes / x MB. 3-10 minute chunks might be good enough, but you will have to experiment. (edit2: to speed up testing, try 15, 20, 30 second increment videos first, replay in your favorite video player to see if there is any loss in quality and the size of the files)

edit: It is not just your system specs that are important, but the limitations of the recording software/editing software/etc.

It is extremely frustrating to have to redo an entire sequence again (that may span several hours).

Also, your specs seem pretty high....I assume you are using SSD of some kind?

OBS I hope will incorporate this . I suppose you can also try to get it coded privately (ability to "auto-save")

Hello sbgaming,

Sorry for the late response.
We were able to recreate the frame dropping issue while recording Path of Exile and forwarded the report to our development team.

Thank you.
