Intel Quicksync creates very big files

Hello,
I recently got a Laptop with an Intel Core i5 7th Gen cpu.
So I switched on the "Intel Quicksync" hardware encoding and tried to cut & convert an MPEG2 TS 720x576 movie using the default settings.

BUT to my unpleasant surprise, the resulting MP4 H264 file was almost twice as big as the MPEG2 source file!

While the "software encoder" creates a reasonable small output file as expected.

Am I missing something? Do i have to use a certain profil?

Please assist, thank!

PS: Bandicut 2.8.2.380

Hello,

A file which is encoded by "Intel Quick Sync Video" encoder is generally bigger than others.
It is a kind of characteristic.

Could you let us know your "Output Setting"?
If you use VBR encoding we recommend that you set the quality under 80.

Best regards,
The Bandicut Team.

Hello again,

Source file: mpeg-2 ts file recorded via Sundtek USB DVBT2, free-to-air TV channel, 720x576

Encoded using VBR quality 70 and default (like original) for all the rest:

Software encoder: 275 MB
Intel Quicksync: 366 MB

So 33% bigger, that's slightly disappointing for me...
