AppData folder for Bandicam created in wrong user folder

Fri Jan 26, 2018 4:46 am

As the title states Bandicam creates a new user folder on my C: drive.
Structure as follows: C:\Users\*mentionendwrongusername*\AppData\Roaming\Bandicam Company\BANDICAM and in the last folder there is a file called version.ini.
Every time I delete the folder it apperas again after I start Bandicam.

I just resetted my computer and since then it had the wrong user name Bandicam now recreates,
so I went ahead and changed it by following this guide:
https://praxistipps.chip.de/windows-ben ... -das_32245
(in German, the one I used)
https://tunecomp.net/rename-user-profil ... 0-c-users/
(same steps in English)

Till today Bandicam seems to be the only programm behaving this way, since Bandicut which I also installed as a full version does not.

I would like to know if there is a way to make Bandicam create its AppData folder in the right user folder which is used by all my other programms.

Hello phmage,

Could you let us know the original username and the wrong username?
Are you using a German version of Windows?
What is your OS version?

We look forward to your reply.

Thank you.

My original username is just "Philip" and the wrong one is "phili" which apparently Windows creates by using the first five letters from the connected outlook account.
Also yes, I am running the German version of Windows but all folders are still named in English, only displayed in German. For instance the userpath is just "C:/Users/" when you left-click inside the adress area of the windows explorer but still displayed as "Dieser PC > Windows (C:) > Benutzer" when nothing is clicked.

And I am running Windows 10 Home 64-bit and currently version 1709 build 16299.192

Thank your for your fast reply, best regards

Philip

Hello phmage,

Thank you for getting back to us with additional information.
So do you mean that you have now both users in the "Dieser PC > Windows (C:) > Benutzer" path?
Could you attach a screenshot of the Windows Explorer screen of the "Dieser PC > Windows (C:) > Benutzer" path?

Thank you.

Hello phmage,

Thank you for your feedback.
We are able to recreate your issue and found a solution.

The English guide you sent us was correct but the extra step was necessary.
6. An extra step. Perform it if you encounter errors after you changed the path to your profile. Search the registry for ‘old account name’. If you find the values with the old path change it the the new one. Hit “F3” in the registry editor until you correct all entries containing the old path.
However you don't need to find and change all the values.
All you need to find is the path "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" and change the value from "phili\AppData\Roaming" to "Philip\AppData\Roaming".
As you might know, "S-1-5-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx" is the value related to the old account that shows at the 5th step on the English guide.

We hope it helps.

Thank you.

Yes, that finally did it!

Yeah I read the German article and just scanned through the English one so I accidentally skipped that line.

Thank you for solving my issue!

Best regards
