Interesting bug in Screen Recording Mode [SOLVED]

Sun Sep 16, 2018 3:12 pm

[SOLVED]
See my comment below.
I'll leave the description here so encase any others here have a similar problem, you know if you have the same problem as me.

I like to screenshot in this mode, it's useful for highlighting comments and recording in a certain area, however... I had to reinstall my operating system recently, and I installed Bandicam. I decided to test it before using it, and I discovered a weird issue.

A small disclaimer, I run my 1080p monitor at 1440p to screenshot games at a higher resolution, and just get higher resolution screenshots in general.

Below, you'll see the issue that I'm having.

That is a screenshot using screen recording mode. As you can see, it's got a giant black border, and it captures the yellow outline of the recorder, and the actual screenshot is shortened to the point where you can barely read anything on it. The only fix for this bug is to use the native resolution (1080p) but it isn't very helpful for me. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Edit: Sorry for not being clear.
I installed the LATEST version of Bandicam before this one. I decided to try an older version, one that I was using before. And well... no luck. The last resort would be to restart my PC, but I installed this on my PC when it was in 1440p, I don't fully understand why this bug is happening.

Edit 2: Restarting didn't fix it. Changing the icon and font size from Windows Settings didn't help. But for some reason, my second monitor which actually is 1440p, but no good for competitive gaming at 60fps, it screenshots just fine on that monitor. I'm beginning to think this bug relates to the native resolutions, hence, why it is so compressed. And the screen shotting feature seems to think that the resolution on my main monitor is 1080p, but when it realises its 1440p, it puts the 1080p version of that screenshot on the 1440p version, leaving black borders. Sorry. I made that sound too confusing. Basically, wrong resolution size on Bandicam's part.

Hello,

It seems that the game is changing the monitor resolution.

Please use the 'Game Recording Mode (https://www.bandicam.com/how-to/game-recorder/)' and use the screenshot hotkey (F11).

Hello again,

We're able to reproduce the problem with the custom resolution settings.
However, we can't solve this issue.
(It's impossible on Windows.)

You will have the same issue with other screen capture programs.

We're sorry that we couldn't give the answer you wished for.

Are you sure there's nothing you can do? It's something related to the native resolution being 1080p, and my resolutuon being 1440p. Something is going wrong there.

Even if you use the 'Print Screen' key on your keyboard, you will have the same issue.

Wow, you're right. I never noticed that. However, I never had this problem before I reinstalled my OS. I was able to run at 1440p on my 1080p monitor the whole time. Maybe it's something in my systems settings that needs to change? I need to make it so my monitor is native 1440p instead, and that should fix it (My best guess). I don't know how to do that though.

I FIXED IT!
And it was the dumbest and least likely fix ever...
I had to put my resolution back to 1080p via Nvidia Control Panel. Then I went to Windows Settings > Display.
From there, I chose 1440p. And some magic happened, now my screenshots don't have the border anymore, and I'm running in 1440p.
Edit: I made a mistake in explaining how I fixed it. If a non supported resolution is not there, try going to Display Adapter Properties, find List All Modes, then pick your resolution there.

It's so stupid how the resolution needed to be changed with the operating systems own settings. I can't believe it.

I got a similar result when I had 150% scaling on a 4k screen.
