Screen tearing in recording not present in source.

Sat Jun 01, 2019 6:11 am

Hi there, I'm recording my main monitor at 1920x1080p @60 fps favor CBR. Everything looks fine while recording, but when I play the video back in Windows Media Player or VLC the tearing is quite distracting. I'm recording in screen mode and have Autodesk Maya running as the main app I'm trying to record. I set the resolution of the main monitor to be 1920x1080p I launch Bandicam and start recording.
I've tried the suggestion of disabling "Use enhanced capture method (faster, Windows 8 or above)." That fixes the tearing, but unfortunately it also makes the recording look like it was 30fps instead of 60fps. When that option is turned off the mouse looks choppy and other movement is not smooth and defeats the purpose of recording at 60fps.
Is there a solution that gets rid of the tearing and keeps the silky smooth 60fps look? It's easy to repro so I'm happy to try some suggestions if you've got any.
Here are two videos showing the problem, no editing dumped directly from Bandicam.

Hello malcolm341,

Please let us know if you have the same issue when you use other codecs.
Also, please attach a screenshot of your format settings window of Bandicam.

Thank you.

Hi, I tried these codecs with no improvement.
h264 (NVIDIA NVENC)
HEVC (NVIDIA NVENC)
h264 (CPU)
MPEG-4
And here's the screenshot you requested.

Hello malcolm341,

Thank you for your reply.

We've found you are using an old version of Bandicam.
Please uninstall it and restart your computer. Then download/reinstall the latest version of Bandicam(4.4.1) from our official website.

Thank you.

Hi I updated and the screen tearing is fixed, but the update introduced a new issue. The banding in the gradient is much worse than before and the quality of the video is somewhat ruined. I see you introduced the profile setting now which is making my video look worse, based on my previous screenshot of my settings how to I get that same quality with the new version of Bandicam.

Hello malcolm341,

It might be a problem with the graphics driver.
Please uninstall the graphics driver completely.

And then, please install the latest version of the graphics driver and try recording again.

If it does not seem to help, please upload the recorded file and let us know the link for further investigation.

Thank you.

Sorry I forgot to say thanks for helping me fix the tearing. I had already uninstalled and updated the graphics driver, the issue appears to be with my settings, the profile defaults to auto which seems a bit worse in quality than my older version of Bandicam. In my previous version there was no "profile" settings so I'm wondering what I should set there now to achieve the same quality. Is "main" at "90" quality the same as what I was using before?

Hello malcolm341,

Thank you for your additional report.
The default profile setting "auto" means "high".
The quality should be the same if you haven't changed the setting.

Thank you.
