Is using the 'H264 Quick Sync Video encoder' a bad idea for game recording?

Wed Jul 24, 2019 1:36 pm

I have a PC with an Intel i7-7700 CPU, which has HD630 onboard graphics. The PC does not have a separate graphics card.

If I wanted to record gameplay, would it be a bad idea to use the H264 Quick Sync Video encoder rather than the standard H264 encoder? My understanding is that Quick Sync uses the graphics card to help with video encoding. Because the HD630 is already a very limited GPU, wouldn't it make my gaming performance every worse if Quick Sync was using the HD630 to record video while I was playing a game? Would it be better to use a CPU-only encoder instead?

thanks

Hello Prizm,

We recommend you try both and check out the performance on your PC.
Basically, we think H.264(Intel Quick Sync Video) codec is better.
However, if you have a problem when you use it, please use the H.264(CPU) codec.

Thank you.
