Broken avi

Mon Oct 21, 2013 6:43 pm

Hello.

I have one broken file because of game crash. Would like to restore it.
1. Video is in avi and mjpeg.
2. Video should be about 20 minutes.
3. Bandifix restores only 3 minutes.
4. Video is playing normally in MPC even after 3 minutes.
5. I cannot move through the video, just playback is fine.
6. None of fixers helped me, even VirtualDub couldn't load it all.

How can I fix the video?

You are developers and have deeper knowledge in structure of avi container and mjpeg codec, advice me pls, is it possible to get another video, open in hex editor, find the bits regarding to the length of video or index, then change the same bits in broken video to get it working?

Hello!

If Bandifix failed to restore the broken .avi file and MPC can play the file, you may re-record the broken avi file through Bandicam.

1. Start Bandicam and choose "DirectX/OpenGL window' mode.
2. Play the broken avi file.
3. Click the record button of Bandicam.

I thought about it, but it has 2 drawbacks:
1. Slight quality degradation.
2. I've two audio streams in file, so I've to rerecord twice.

We're sorry that we don't have other solutions...
